Winners And Losers From Round 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft

Ok. Please give me a moment because I'm still trying to process everything that happened last night. From the trades that went down, to one that we we're surprised didn't go down, to the question "what the hell are you thinking?" I'm going to pick my jaw off the ground and give you winners and losers from night one of this years NFL Draft.

Detroit Lions

I'll just get this one out of the way now. The Lions killed it in night one. Getting Michigan Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson at #2 and trading up to take Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams ten picks later gives Lions fans something to be excited about. Both picks fill needs for the Lions and I don't feel like they reached to get Williams either. They traded away picks 32, 34, and 66 to move up 20 spots and took arguably the best receiver in this years draft and still get a second round pick this year.

Ney York Football

Not just the Jets. Not just the Giants. Both New York teams had an amazing first round. The Jets taking Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson with picks 4 and 10 then trading back into the first round to take, a player who plummeted in the first round and who I'm surprised no one took sooner, Florida State edge rusher Jermaine Johnson. The Jets need help just about everywhere and this draft definitely gave them quality players. As far as the Giants go, they landed two players who at some point or another were touted as potential #1 overall draft picks. Evan Neal was the best rated lineman coming into the draft so it seems the Giants as of now are committed to Daniel Jones. And as long as coach Brian Daboll can light a fire under Kayvon Thibodeaux, he could make the four teams that didn't take him regret their decision.

AJ Brown

It's not just teams that can be winners on draft day! AJ Brown got a new $100 million contract, becomes part of a talented Eagles receiving group, and gets a younger quarterback in Jalen Hurts. I don't see how this doesn't work out for him.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers did nothing to help Aaron Rodgers in the first round. They could have moved up to take one of the receivers. They could have traded to get Deebo Samuel. Either option help replace Devante Addams. Instead the Packers draft a linebacker. Not Nakobe Dean, not Devin Llyod, not even Chad Muma, the Packers selected Quay Walker. The 10th rated linebacker in this draft. I have no idea what that front office was thinking last night. But this wasn't it.

Deebo Samuel

I'll keep this one short because I feel like the 49ers could do something with Deebo during this nights festivities. Whether that be a new contract or trading him off tonight. But it couldn't have felt good sitting and watching this draft and seeing Hollywood Brown and AJ Brown get dealt away and AJ Brown getting a new deal. Like I said this list is just from the first round so this whole paragraph could be useless after tonight.

Washington Commanders

New Orleans moved up to #11 and took Chris Olave. But Olave wasn't the only receiver they missed out on by dropping five spots, with Williams going one pick later to Detroit. The Commanders did draft Jahon Dotson from Penn State but that doesn't seem like the trade worked in Washington's favor.

Brian Hartline and Ohio State recruiting

If any top receiver in high school is looking to go from college to the NFL. All Brian Hartline has to do is show them this picture. With these three going back-to-back-to-back this picture alone is a huge selling point for Ohio State and it's recruiting staff.

That was only night one of the 2022 NFL Draft and we still have a lot of big names on the board still coming in to tonight. We hope the chaos continues because this is why we love football!
