Should Casey Mize start Opening Day 2022 for the Tigers?

After drafting him very high in the 2018 MLB player Draft, Casey Mize instantly had become the Tigers number one Prospect, and quickly become a top 5 prospect in the entire MLB. After a solid first full season last year, it's almost clear he is the First or Second guy in this teams rotation this year. The early thought is the obvious one, Eduardo Rodriguez should start opening day, but here are some reasons I think Casey deserves a very strong look.

The first thing to look at with Casey Mize is he is a top player of our future and has been with the Tigers a long time now. Having a franchise player start over a guy they signed could help Casey Mize with confidence and make him a little happier as a player. Him and Eduardo are not miles apart, but I think something as small as starting him on opening day could go a pretty long way.

The Second reason is his first spring training appearance looked good and having a hot arm to start the year could help a team that has been so miserable for so long, try start on the right foot.

One more reason, which is similar to the second one, is the potential he has significantly increased from last year. He has reportedly shown a large increase with his splitter and that could be dangerous and something the Tigers could use big time

Here is Casey's 2021 stats.

3.71 Earned runs average

118 Strike outs

150.1 Innings pitched

-

Not perfect stats but solid nevertheless. I like him a lot as out guy for opening day

So with all that said, who do you think should be the Tigers opening day starter?
