Meet The Rookie: Jaylen Waddle

Updated: May 17, 2021

Meet the rookie: Jaylen Waddle Jaylen Waddle was born in Houston, Texas, in1998 on November 25th. Jaylen Waddle committed to Alabama University in 2018. Since then, he has been on fire. In his first year at Alabama, he had 848 yards in 45 receptions and 7 touchdowns. For comparison, Devonta Smith had 42 receptions for 693 yards and 6 touchdowns in that same year for Alabama. In 2019 he had 33 receptions for 560 yards and 6 touchdowns. In 2020 Jaylen Waddle broke his right ankle in a game against Tennessee. Waddle returned for the National Championship game, however. His Heisman winning teammate Devonta Smith said this about Waddle '' If Jaylen never got injured, he would have won the Heisman, not me''.

Jaylen Waddle has crazy speed, and if I had to compare him to anyone, it would be Tyreek Hill. Waddle can blow past any cornerback with ease. The injury does cause some concern, but I don't think it will be an issue. Waddle will be teaming up once again with former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With this combination plus receivers like Devonta Parker, Mike Gesicki, and Will Fuller, Miami is sure to be a playoff team and a future super bowl contender.
