Breaking down the Packers 90 man roster and early predictions

Breaking down the Packers 90 man preseason roster and early predictions for who will make the 53.

Quarterbacks: 4

Lock: Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love

On the Bubble: Blake Bortles, Kurt Benkurt

With or without Aaron Rodgers starting for the Packers, Green Bay will opt to have at least 3 QBs on the 53.

Running Backs: 6

Lock: Aaron Jones, AJ Dillion

On the Bubble: Kylin Hill, Dexter Williams

Long Shot: Patrick Taylor, Mike Weber

Could the Packers value 7th round pick Kylin Hill as RB3, or one of the practice squad running backs from the year prior? Maybe even Patrick Taylor, who spent the entire year on the PUP list.

Wide Receivers: 12

Lock: Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Amari Rodgers

On the Bubble: Devin Funchess, Equanimeous St. Brown, Malik Taylor

Long Shot: Chris Blair, Bailey Gaithers, Reggie Begelton, Juwann Winfree, DeAndre Thompkins

WR1 - WR4 seem like locks, but everything after that is a mystery. St Brown will have to fight for his roster spot this year after 2 years of down performances, and Funchess will need to prove that he is healthy and has what it takes to play after missing 2 years.

Tight Ends: 7

Lock: Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguarda

On the Bubble: Jace Sternberger, Dominique Dafney

Long Shot: Isaac Nauta, Bronson Kaufusi

The end of 2020 didn't look good for Sternberger, who spent the last few weeks as a healthy scratch. Dominique Dafney will also have to impress the teams once again if he wants Green Bay to keep 4 TEs.

Offensive Tackles: 6

Lock: David Bakhtiari, Billy Turner, Royce Newman

On the Bubble: Yosh Nijman

Long Shot: Zack Johnson, Coy Cronk

With the question of if David Bakhtiari being ready for week 1, this puts in the question of how many offensive tackles the Packers will have for week 1, with Yosh being a viable option.

Offensive Guards/Centers: 10

Lock: Elgton Jenkins, Jon Runyan, Lucas Patrick, Josh Myers

On the Bubble: Cole Van Lanen, Simon Stepaniak, Ben Braden

Long Shot: Jake Hanson, Jon Dietzen, Jacob Capra

Green Bay drafted 6 offensive linemen within the last 2 years, and not all are a lock to make it. Things don't look good for Jake Hanson after the pick of Josh Myers and Stepaniak is coming off an ACL tear he suffered while at Indiana.

Defensive Line: 10

Lock: Kenny Clark, Keke Kingsley, Tedarrell Slaton

On the Bubble: Tyler Lancaster, Dean Lowery

Long Shot: Willington Previlon, Delontae Scott, Anthony Rush, Carlo Kemp, Jack Heflin

While the Packers reworked Dean Lowery's contract to where he's basically a lock, some other players might step up and take his place on the 53. Plus Green Bay may opt to keep up to 6 defensive linemen.

Outside Linebacker/Edge: 6

Lock:ZaDarius Smith, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary

On the Bubble: Randy Ramsey

Long Shot: Jonathan Garvin, Tipa Galeai

It's all a question of if Green Bay values depth behind their big 3 of the Smith bros and Gary.

Inside Linebackers: 7

Lock: Kamal Martin, Krys Barnes

On the Bubble: Ty Summers, Oren Burks, Isaac McDuffie

Long Shot: De’Jon Harris, Ray Wilborn

Such a young linebacker core, Summers and Burks could be on their way out if they don't show improvement on the defensive side. (They are excellent special team members though.)

Cornerbacks: 8

Lock: Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Eric Stokes, Shemar Jean-Charles

On the Bubble: Josh Jackson, Ka’Dar Holliman, Chandon Sullivan

Long Shot: Stanford Samuels, Kabion Ento

Many people want King gone, but the fact is he is there to stay in 2021. Josh Jackson had a downwards spiral towards the end of the year being inactive for the end of the season. Ka’Dar and Chandon will also need to prove they want to make the 53 once again.

Safeties: 7

Lock: Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Vernon Scott

On the Bubble: Henry Black, Will Redmond

Long Shot: Innis Gaines, Christian Uphoff

Henry Black showed a lot of promise towards the end of the year and could fit well in the spot of Raven Greene.

Specialist: 6

On the Bubble: Mason Crosby, JK Scott

Long Shot: Ryan Winslow, JJ Molson, Hunter Bradley, Joe Fortunato

The only reason Crosby and JK are not a lock is because Green Bay did bring in competition for both of them, as well as for Hunter Bradley who had a bad year. Green Bay could look to move on from any of them at a cheaper cost.

Lock: 33

On the Bubble: 26

Long Shot: 31
